New Media Mentors

A collaboration with Netroots Foundation, New Media Mentors is an intensive learning and capacity-building opportunity to help progressive non-profits use social media and online organizing tools effectively.
The program is based on the following principles:

1. The impact of using social media and online tools strategically can have exponential impact on both the capacity of organizations and their ability to achieve lasting social change.
2. The strategic use of communications and outreach both on and offline are an integral part of successful progressive social change campaigns and projects.
3. A new generation of experts is key to helping groups understand and utilize the continually changing array of online tools and technologies.
4. While strategy typically drives tactics, understanding what new tools and technologies can and can’t do can also inform strategy.

Launched in January 2011, NMM will work with 10 - 15 social justice and environmental advocacy groups each year.
